Advent is the season of hope and joyful preparation for the coming of Jesus. The Advent Season is the start of a new church year. This year it begins on Sunday, December 1st. During this season, we want to share our hope and joy with others. Therefore, as a school, we have decided to carry out 2 projects in service to others. The first project will be to participate in a toy drive sponsored by the New Iberia Police Department. The Second project will be to collect donations for the Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center. To make things easier and to ensure that the Disch-DeClouet Social Service Center receives a good variety of items, categories of donations will be divided up by grade levels.
1. Community Christmas Toy Drive
- Kick off on Nov 25th and runs through Dec 12th
- Our goal as a school is to collect 350 gifts
- Gifts can be dropped off at the front office or in the carline
- Toys should be new but unwrapped
- An added incentive for reaching our school wide goal will be: One Week of Crazy Sock And Shoe Days
2. SOCIAL SERVICE CENTER
We will donate to the Social Service Center of Iberia Parish. They are always in need for these products. More people than ever are in need of help. We have been asked to donate:
- Elementary School: Canned Meats (Tuna, Chicken, etc.) or Diapers and Wipes
- Middle School: Peanut Butter and Jelly (No glass containers please) or Diapers and Wipes
- Freshmen: Rice or Diapers and Wipes
- Sophomores: Pasta or Diapers and Wipes
- Juniors: Dry Beans or Diapers and Wipes
- Seniors: Canned Goods or Diapers and Wipes
Students can bring their donations to the front office or they can be dropped off in carline from November 25–December 18. We thank you in advance for helping our students to be witnesses to Christ and encouraging them to “Clothe the Naked” and “Feed the Hungry”, which are Corporal Works of Mercy, and helping them understand the importance of living like Jesus and serving others, no matter how big or small the service may be.
