In September, we started the process for selecting the CHS Students of the Year for 5th, 8th and 12th grade. In the past we participated in the award program sponsored by the Louisiana State Department of Education. There has been a change for this year and we will now compete in the Louisiana Catholic School Student of the Year, going head-to-head with other students from the Diocese of Lafayette, Alexandria, Baton Rouge, Houma-Thibodeaux, Lake Charles, Shreveport, and the Archdiocese of New Orleans.
Students must have at least a 3.5 overall GPA to participate. Those who are interested in applying for this award had to submit a 1 minute video describing themselves and why we should consider them for this award. Those students then were asked to put together a detailed portfolio of their accomplishments in leadership roles, academics, sports, and community service. The step they completed in the last few weeks is the interview with awards committee members.
We are very pleased to announce the CHS Students of the Year. For 5th grade Student of the Year, John Indest has been selected. Anna Miles-Crook has been selected for 8th grade Student of the Year. Our 12th grade Student of the Year is Kaiden Faulk. These students will move on to compete at the Diocesan Level.
