The Catholic High School Finance Committee, Advisory Board, and Chancellor have processed and approved the school budget for the 2023-2024 school year. At this time, our tuition remains one of the lowest of virtually every comparable Catholic/private school in Acadiana. In spite of this, the quality of the overall program at CHS is excellent, and therefore, must continue to be maintained and improved. The proposed new budget will allow us to do that. This is one of the most difficult decisions to make each year as we strive to keep our school excelling academically and affordable to our families. Therefore, the upcoming school year will see a $100 per student per year tuition increase. This will amount to approximately $9 per student per month over the 11 month charging period.
Re-enrollment for current CHS families will begin on December 15, 2022. Please make every effort to complete this process as soon as you are able. All families are required to complete registration by January 31, 2023. This is a firm deadline, and anyone who has not registered by this date will be placed on a waiting list. Waiting list status means that schedule requests, including elective and honors class placement for the next school year, will not be honored until registration is complete. This deadline comes with a $425 per family enrollment fee which must be paid at the time of submission. Enrollment packets will not be processed until the fee is paid. Adhering to this deadline will allow for the preparation of a very precise master schedule for next year. The master schedule is one that determines the entire teaching schedule and all course offerings for a school year, and therefore has staffing and budget implications. Again I would like to emphasize that every family must complete the re-enrollment packets for next school year.
Beginning in 2024-2025, Catholic High will return to a continuous re-enrollment process. During that registration time, your child will be automatically re-enrolled each year, and packets will no longer be required. All information will simply roll over to the next school year. There will be an “opt out” period each year where you will be able to stop this process and choose to withdraw your child from the upcoming school year. These dates will be communicated to you each year via email, newsletters, Facebook, etc. to ensure that everyone will have ample time to make these very important decisions.
One change you will notice this coming year is the addition of a yearbook fee. In an effort to eliminate too much money wasted on yearbook orders, we are attempting to gather data ahead of time. While filling out your packets, you will be asked whether or not you would like to order a yearbook. If you choose “Yes,” you will be charged a $60 fee (via your FACTS Financial account in October 2023) for the upcoming school year, and your family will receive one yearbook. Please keep in mind that this will carry over each year; therefore, if you want this changed in subsequent years you will need to contact the school. If you would like more than one, you will have the opportunity to order additional yearbooks.
