HOMECOMING THEME DRESS DAYS

What Can Students Wear?
If a student does not want to make an obvious effort and dress in theme, that is fine, but he or she must be in uniform with all uniform requirements in place (shirts tucked in all day, school shoes tied and on the feet, belts worn, etc…)

If a teacher or administrator asks a students to make changes to their outfits during class, they should do so with a “yes ma’am” or a “yes sir” without arguing … even if it seems insignificant to them.

Monday - Mass dress, formal uniform

Tuesday - Ranch / Country & Western:  students may wear attire similar to a rancher, cowboy, country & western star, or rodeo participant.

  • No shorts for 9-12 - While shorts were permitted for this theme for the HS Back to School Dance, shorts will NOT be permitted for this theme during this school day.
  • 4-8 may wear shorts, but they should be longer than mid-thigh and not too tight.
  • Jeans are fine; if they are distressed or slightly ripped, those must be at or below the knee, not above.
  • Cowboy hats will be okay, but if a teacher needs you to remove the hat during instruction and learning, remove it please.
  • Vests are fine with a shirt underneath (no vests as shirts only)

Wednesday - Caesar theme:  students may wear Greek organization letters (fraternities, sororities, Mu Alpha Theta Math Society, Theta Tau Engineering Society, etc…) or Greek/Roman costumes.

  • College fraternity or sorority t-shirts should not contain slogans about alcohol consumption (for example, “Lambda Lambda Lambda & Omega Mu Keg Party 1992”)
  • Better to wear fraternity or sorority jerseys or philanthropy shirts, not obvious party shirts.
  • If wearing a toga, wear a t-shirt and shorts underneath. Togas should be no shorter than 3 inches from the floor when kneeling (closer to knee-length than mid-thigh). You should be able to walk easily in them.
  • If dressing as a Roman soldier, props like plastic swords and shields can be distracting and disruptive. Please don’t bring those.
  • Roman “sandals” must have a wide strap for the back.

Thursday - Thousand Island:  Students may wear Hawaiian or Beach themed outfits.

  • 4-8 may wear shorts, but they should be longer than mid-thigh and not too tight.
  • High school students may wear shorts (longs) on this day, but they should be board shorts, mom-shorts, knee-length (so, longer than for the HS BTS Dance), and not too tight. Any high school student NOT wanting to wear knee-length, not-tight shorts can wear jeans or pants.  if they are distressed or slightly ripped, those must be at or below the knee, not above.
  • Hawaiian grass skirts over approved bottoms are okay.
  • Leis as necklaces, bracelets, and hair accessories, beach hats, snorkels, sunglasses, and goggles are okay. But if a teacher asks  to remove during class, do so without arguing.
  • Zinc sunscreen on the nose is okay.
  • Hawaiian shirts are fine, buttoned up or over full-coverage tank tops. But it can’t be taken off so that a student is only in a tank top.
  • Sandals must have a wide strap for the back.
  • Girls bathing suits and coconut tops over clothes on boys or girls are NOT allowed.
