Dear parents and students,

It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of summer and getting ready for the opening of CHS for the 2021-2022 academic year.  We once again want to express our thanks to you, our students, and our faculty and staff for your diligence, patience, and support over the last 18 months as we have navigated this pandemic together as a school community. I must share that it is very exciting to see that CHS has become a very lively place again after the quiet days of summer! There is clearly eager anticipation as we make final preparations for the 2021-2022 school year. This evening's newsletter contains a great deal of important information for all of our families, so please be sure to read all posts.

I would personally like to welcome everyone to a new school year at Catholic High School and offer some tips and information for success in 2021-2022. There are many reasons to be excited about the new year including a growing student body, a fantastic faculty, and numerous campus improvements underway.

At the same time, we will follow the COVID-19 Updated Protocols for the 2021-2022 School Year (https://b.link/2021CHSBTS) shared with us from the Bishop and the Diocese of Lafayette.  As always, it will be of the utmost importance that students with symptoms of Covid-19 and other infectious illnesses, as well as those in direct contact with persons who have tested positive for Covid-19, remain away from campus and classmates for the number of days recommended by medical professionals, depending on their situation.

If your child or a member of your family becomes ill, please contact Administration so that we can help support you. As part of our ongoing school-based response to the pandemic and the Diocesan policies that we are required to follow, we will continue to utilize detailed quarantine and distance learning protocols to ensure that students can continue learning if they do have to be away from campus for an extended period of time. Keeping your child home and making use of the technology tools at our disposal will continue to keep us all safe, learning, and competing as a Panther family!

I cannot overemphasize to students and families the importance of being well prepared on the very first day. All handbook policies, including dress codes and grooming regulations, are in place for orientation days, August 6 (Seniors)  and August 9 (grades 4-11). All schools, including CHS, will work hard to establish good habits from the start by strictly enforcing school policies. I ask for the cooperation of all students and parents in these areas as we begin the school year.  Please make sure that you pay special attention to hair length for boys and skirt length for girls.

In addition to the new faculty and staff members that were announced in our summer newsletter, new roles for some of our familiar faces on campus will bring excitement and energy to a new year. Learn more about them here.

I want to close by saluting all the students, faculty, and staff who have been active in preparing our school for the new academic year. Your dedication and hard work is greatly appreciated. It is clear that we have many students, as well as their coaches and moderators, who are not afraid of hard work. You inspire us!

Best wishes to everyone for a happy and successful school year. Thank you for your continued support of our school mission and vision.

With Panther Pride,

Dr. Stella Arabie
