Grading System

Each grade level has 4 quarterly grading periods. In grades 4 and 5, the 4 quarters are averaged to determine the final grade for the year. In grades 6-12, semester exams and averages are given. The semester averages are each worth 50% of the final grade. Semester averages are calculated as follows:

Grades 6-8: Each quarter is worth 45% and the exam is worth 10% of the semester grade.

Grades 9-12: Each quarter is worth 37.5% and the exam is worth %25 of the semester grade.

The grading scales are as follows:

Regular   Honors   AP/DE
100-94 A 100-93 A 100-90

Graduation Requirements

Catholic High School issues a Catholic High diploma in compliance with the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Diocese of Lafayette. Special recognition may be given to graduates who take the required courses (16 for the Class of 2011 and beyond) and earn a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better. Departments in collaboration with Guidance and Administration reserve the right to determine a student's placement in an honors course.

Catholic High requires 28 units of credit for graduation, aligned with the LA Core 4 curriculum. See page 8 of the Student Handbook for more details.

Scholarships
Scholarship opportunities, requirements, and deadlines are communicated through the guidance office to students and their families. These are also posted to the school's guidance calendar as they become available.
