  • General purpose for you being at Catholic High.
    • To get an education, to graduate from CHS and go to college.
    • To participate in the softball program and to assist your team in winning the district championship.
    • To develop lifelong friends in an atmosphere of cordiality and purpose, both on and off the softball field.
    • To live by the players contract, on and off the field.
  • As softball coaches, it is our responsibility to assist you in the above.   We will do this by.  
    • Monitoring your classes and grades to insure that you are faithfully doing the work necessary to achieve graduation.  
    • Giving you the best softball education to assure that you will respond properly on the playing field.  
    • Placing you in a proper environment, both on and off the field, so that you are allowed every opportunity to enjoy CHS.
  • Team policies
    • Appearance
        • You will be requested to dress properly around campus because you represent yourself and the softball program.
        • Hair must be pulled up and away from the face at all practices and games.
        • Your uniform and practice gear should be laundered properly and you must wear it correctly.
        • Players should wear the appropriate practice uniform at all practices.   Practice uniform:   Red or black shorts only.   Red, white, or grey t-shirts only with Catholic Softball logo on it.
    • Attendance
        • You will attend class regularly and BE ON TIME.
        • You will prepare yourself for assignments and exams over the entire semester, not on the last day.   Players should not ask to miss any practice or game to prepare for an exam, work on research papers, or projects that have been assigned well in advance.
        • Your first responsibility will be in your classes.   Your second will be the softball team.   They are both very important to you and your coaches.
        • If for any reason you will be absent or late for practice, you should talk personally by phone or in person to Coach Beck prior to the scheduled time of practice, preferably well in advance so that practice adjustments can be made.
        • Players should have a note from their teachers in the event that they are late for practice.
          • Players with an unexcused tardy will perform field punishment.
          • 2 unexcused tardies will equal an unexcused absence, have field punishment and will be subject to less playing time as seen fit by the coaches.
        • No player will leave a practice or game without prior approval.   Any infraction of this will result in suspension from the team.
        • Two unexcused absences will result in your suspension from the team.   We will follow the guidelines as prescribed by CHS when determining if an absence is excused or unexcused.   On weekends or holidays the coaches will determine excused or unexcused.
        • Two or more absences from practice within a week may result in less playing time.
        • If you are absent the day before a game you will not play in that game.
        •  Vacations - softball season officially begins on the day we return to school from the Christmas holidays.   Any practices or games missed will affect playing time.   The amount of time will be determined by the coaches.
        • You may not participate in any summer softball teams until you have been dismissed from CHS softball.
        • Commitment to CHS softball takes priority over any obligation to an event or team that is not sponsored by Catholic High School.
    • Conduct on and off the field.
        • Application detentions:
          • 1 st offense – field punishment
          • 2 or more will result in field punishment and will affect playing time.
        • Saturday detentions will result in field punishment and will affect playing time.
        • You will be expected to conduct yourself in a first class manner around campus and in the community.
        • Tobacco use:
          • 1 st offense – 2 game suspension
          • 2 nd offense – suspension from the team
        • Drinking or drugs:
          • 1 st offense – 4 game suspension
          • 2 nd offense – suspension from the team
        • Umpires - at no time will players argue decisions made by umpires.   This will result in you being benched immediately.
        • At no time will players throw helmets, bats, or gloves in disgust or anger.   This will result in you being benched immediately.
        • Sportsmanship toward opponents, coaches, spectators and teammates is expected at all times.   A lack of it will result in immediate benching and a 2 game suspension.
    • Cell phones – cell phones should only be used after practices and games.   Cell phones will be placed in silent mode during practice and games.
